Welcome to 2012, we are in for another great year at Ham West School. We are very proud of our school which was built in 1864 and is one of the oldest schools in New Zealand.

The original school site was where WINTEC is now located, we moved to our current site around 1940 after the school had been used as a hospital for American servicemen on route back to the United States.

The large wooden classroom block is believed to be the longest wooden structure in the Southern Hemisphere.

The school is set in spacious, well established grounds with excellent facilities. The buildings are architecturally pleasing and have been recently painted.

Hamilton West is a full primary school and in 2011 the roll opened at 490 students and we expect it to grow to around 550.

The Board of Trustees and Principal are committed to providing low student teacher ratios.
